Self-reflection for The Year 2008

Sorry that this is a little bit late. Anyhow, I will start with a list of things that I did in 2008.

1. I was working as a waitress

I know this sounds impossible but I did it, even if it just for five days. But in those five days, I felt a little part of how hard it is for my dad to earn money. I also learnt to talk to stranger and try to persuade the customers to buy more. I was good at it!

2. I went through a stage when I was living my days like a sloppy teenager

Yes I did! It involved a whole lot of hanging out at the bowling centre, mamak, a regular visitor to the Golden Screen Cinema and being too excited of getting a driver’s license that I crashed my mom’s MPV to a yellow school’s bus. My bad.

3. My first time being away from my family

This was when I started attending Kolej Matrikulasi Melaka, KMM.

4. I made a huge decision despite my strong desire for what I want to do with my life

That decision was to go to KMM, instead of Multimedia College, MMC for doing art and Akademi Laut Malaysia, ALAM for doing engineering. Well, it was not really a decision since I was forced by my parents. Yes, Mommy, Babah! Thanks a lot! Hahaha…

5. I became stronger in some ways and weaker in the others

I learnt to stand up on my own two feet but my ‘ehem-ehem’ (I rather leave it un-revealed here) was a bit shattered.

6. I gained more weight

I ate more since I had five months without doing anything at home. I am no longer size 2. Wait, I was not in size 2 since I was 17.

7. I bought more shoes

My dad lectures me for not buying anymore of shoes. Why is it not enough to have just a pair of sandals and a pair of sneakers? Well Babah, get a mirror. I got that from you.

8. I became Nerdia, again

My bestfriend called me Nerdia when we were in secondary because I was wearing spectacles and almost put on fences on my teeth (braces). I looked like a nerd (Nadia - Nerd - Nerdia - get it?). That happened again when I got myself a pair of spectacles that only should be worn by grannies. Thanks to my best friend for giving me that nickname, again.

9. I learn to sleep alone

But I do once in a while sleep with my friends. Sorry, but I am still new in this whole independent thing.

10.I started trying to be real independent

It is not just about getting on the train on your own or walking around the city alone. But it is actually about chores. I thank my mom for that for she had taught me to live according to system. I always thought her system was kind of fussy in a way. But now, I cannot live without that system I have been taught to practice.
